Ellinsha's Gift

Prologue

Drawn forward, I approached the stone. I wanted to be near it, to touch it. I placed my hands on the stone and my body filled with every emotion I could imagine. This Stone was alive!

As I stood there with my hands pressed against the surface, it spoke to my mind. She called herself Ellinsha, the Seer Stone. The intensity of her voice surprised me. I stepped backward, but my hands remained on the smooth surface buried wrist deep in the pure blue crystal.

As she spoke to me, vivid images of my own past crossed my mind. She reminded me of the long journey I had taken as a boy through the harsh desert from the lands of the north and what my mother had sacrificed to bring me here; what we had both lost. I also saw unexplainable images of the future.

I stepped back again and this time felt my hands released from the surface of the stone; when I did a small piece fell into the palm of my right hand. It was smooth, crystalline in shape and fit perfectly in my palm. It was a soft, pure, blue. I looked at Ellinsha where my hand had lain. On the surface there was a faint hand print and a hole just the size of the small stone I now held in my hand.

My mind is now filled with visions of the future, visions that come from Ellinsha. I had finally inherited my mother’s gift. As a child I had heard the people refer to her as the Priestess or Seeress. Since her death those titles had disappeared and the people no longer believed in the power.

I do, for now I am the Seer.

Okay, I have decided to post chapters of my very first book that I ever wrote. This is my baby and it has gone through the fires of editing more times than anything else I've ever written. I know it is not my greatest best selling novel, but it is the story that came into my mind when I was twelve and it stuck with me until I wrote it out and finished it seven years ago. Of course I'm editing again, so bear with me as I post chapters and hopefully you will enjoy!!!
